Getting to Know Your Pet &
Outlining Your Dream Home
Our Goal is to Minimize Stress for Your Pet’s Transition
It will be A LOT for your pet to adjust to the sudden change of losing you and the home they grew up in. That’s why making sure we know so much about them and what makes them happiest is so important. We can’t replace you, but we can certainly set your loved pets up for success to help ease them into the kind of lifestyle you think would make them happiest in this next endeavor. They will be grieving you, so the goal is to minimize their stress as much as possible while we begin to set them up in their new home.
We will cover the following topics with you in order to create your pet’s personal family plan:
Get to know you time
Through a personal interview reviewing forms we send you, we want to learn all about your pet and all of their loves, dislikes, idiosyncrasies and favorite past times. The more personal information we have about their personalities the better.
What makes your pet happiest?
Walks, ball time, cat nip, cozy lap time, running on the beach, perching in a cat tree watching birds outside, tug of war, hiking, mastering an all-day nap?
Food glorious food
Favorite foods, special diets, specific allergies, special chew-bones, picky eater or beloved treats? What is the best way to their stomach and heart?
Your dream home
Would your pet do best in a quiet home or one full of kids and ample activity? Does your pipsqueak prefer other animals as company, want a current sibling of theirs to join them, or prefer being the sole King or Queen Bee of the house? Anything from your house you want to go along with them for comfort?
Once you are enrolled, your pet is then covered until they need us
After your initial enrollment, your interview and pet’s notes remain stored with us at the ready until the day they’re needed. When the time of your passing comes, your deisgnee (friend, family or lawyer) will contact us and we will be ready to immediately receive them.
The process has a quick turn around to minimize your pet’s transition time. This means that we immediately receive pets, place them into a loving foster home if needed, and immediately launch the search for their new, adoptive home guided by your notes.
Even though it’s an “all hands on deck” moment when we are notified of an incoming CLP pet, we do not rush the screening process itself. It simply means we drop our regular work and focus 100% on the new arrival to minimize stress for your pet during placement. We never place an animal into a home that doesn’t match the outlined criteria for that specific pet, ever. Our only priority is your pet’s well being.
When we announce through our rescue contacts that we are searching for an adoptive home that meets our criteria, the amount of your medical fund is shared with the public. However, the adoptive families never receive this money directly, so there is no financial incentive for them. They learn that a candidate will come with a specific amount of funds to cover all future veterinary expenses of this particular animal, and those finances will be distributed directly to the veterinary practices at the time of service, or be reimbursed to the adopter with approved receipts. 100% of the care funds for your particular pet that may be left over (if any) at the eventual time of your pet’s passing will be donated to the rescue organization that assisted us at the time of your pet’s adoption through CLP.

That’s fine, the more the merrier! We will want to know if you want them separated or adopted out together!

We chose the non-profits we work with to help us adopt out your pet VERY carefully. We work together as partners, and the final screening in the end is done by us to make sure your wishes are carried out.
